Cake over Keto: Episode 3 - Celebrities don’t owe us anything.

I don’t ever want to be a celebrity or influencer no matter how much money could be involved (thank God my Guinea pig wee’d on me on screen and ended my early TV career age 6). To have every inch of your life scrutinised and dragged over the coals, where you can’t do right for doing wrong, no thanks! Women particularly are invaded, judged and criticised – for being too much and not enough. How often have you seen the words ‘she’s let herself go?’ ‘she’s ballooned’ or ‘got out of shape’…after having a baby or in recovery from a breakdown?

The media frenzy around bodies changing is ridiculous.

And it causes harm.

As do digital filters and altering images that encourage people to believe they need to look a certain way. In this episode Mel discusses some of the hype and stories around Adele, Rebel Wilson and Madonna, the impact focusing on appearance can have and the link between body image, body dissatisfaction and unhealthy behaviours.

Oh and don’t miss the pick n mix at the end, Suzanne Samaka is championing change on social media!
